Confirm the hull areas, existing coating type, preparation method and any anodes to be inspected. A surveyor can advise on hull condition separately from the coating contractor.
Understand the schedule
Drying time, weather and yard availability affect when the boat can return to the water. Ask for the product specification and how many coats are included.
Keep a record
Photographs, invoices and product details make future maintenance decisions easier. Blacking protects a suitable hull surface; it does not repair structural defects.
