Use the navigation authority's current notices for stoppages, lock opening times, water shortages and temporary restrictions. A map line is a starting point, not permission to travel.
Mark services and exits
Note water, waste, fuel, turning places, safe stopping options and any river sections. Share an approximate plan with someone ashore if travelling alone.
