Solid fuel, diesel and other systems have different installation and servicing needs. Follow the maker's instructions and use a competent marine professional for work beyond routine checks.
Protect air supply
Do not block fixed vents to keep heat in. Fuel-burning appliances need air, and carbon monoxide cannot be smelled. Fit and test suitable alarms.
Plan the fuel run
Keep dry fuel and a safe reserve where it will not block exits or damage the boat. Check flues, seals and maintenance needs before the coldest weather arrives.
